Workplace health and safety laws demand that we all have a duty of care to take reasonable care for our own health and safety and to not adversely affect the health and safety of others.
This duty of care is not confined to just the physical aspect, but the psychological health and safety as well.
This mental health training video depicts two workplace injuries where the physically injured party is blown away by the amount of attention heaped on her by her work colleagues and the exact opposite is happening to the mentally injured person. In fact, she is being told to “cheer up” and to “get over whatever it is that is bugging her”.
It details to the manager what they can be doing to help create a caring and better educated workplace.
In this training module, managers will learn:
- Creating a mentally healthy workplace is a shared responsibility
- We can all help promote good mental health by talking openly and positively about mental health in the workplace
- The danger of assumptions when it comes to mental health
