If your organisation has already invested in a Learning Management System (LMS), you will no doubt be enjoying the way it has transformed how you deliver training to your workers.
Being able to track learner progress and performance, and allowing staff to access training from any location at any time and at their own pace are immeasurable benefits.
The greatest challenge many organisations are facing is accessing quality training programs
Content for Your Learning Management System
You may be developing your own (perhaps via your organisation’s L&D team or through an instructional designer), using content provided with the platform, or you may have purchased from an external provider.
Or it could be a combination of any of the above.
Whatever the case, the content needs to be engaging, relevant and up-to-date. Then you can really start to reap the benefits of your investment.
One thing you may want to consider is using video in your online learning programs.
With the advent and popularity of platforms like Youtube, Vimeo and the like, many of us find video the most effective tool for communicating a message. Video is super easy to consume which makes it a great tool for learning,
We have become lazy! Today’s life is too fast, too busy to have time to read long passages of information.
Latest off-the-shelf content
This year we’ve spent many hours updating a lot of our off-the-shelf content, predominantly topics related to health and safety in the workplace.
If you happen to be on the look out for content to add to your LMS platform, here’s 5 of our latest self-paced, video based programs to consider:
01. Fire Safety
Fires are a preventable catastrophe that can cause hundreds of thousands of dollars damage, loss of production, loss of jobs and loss of lives.
This program is aimed at all staff within an organisation. They will learn the various areas and processes that could be a fire risk in the workplace, extinguisher use and more. It includes 14 minutes of video content.
02. Manual Handling for Disability Support Workers
As the title suggests, this training program on manual handling is aimed specifically at disability support workers. It covers the various manual handling tasks that are high risk in this particular industry, and provides information on how to assess and control the risks. Staff will also learn about lifting techniques and mechanical aids.
If you require manual handling training and are not in the disability sector, we have programs for you too.
03. Sexual Harassment
We all have the right to work in an environment free from bullying, harassment, discrimination and violence. Everyone in the workplace should be treated with respect no matter their age, sex, colour or creed.
It is therefore important that each of us develop an awareness about the impact of our behaviour on others.
This program, aimed at all staff, will discuss what constitutes sexual harassment and what to do if you are the victim. It includes 4 minutes of video content.
04. Driver Fatigue
Fatigue is something that affects all of us at one time or another. If your workplace happens to be behind the wheel of a motor vehicle, fatigue could be a killer!
This self-paced, video based program includes 11 mins of video content and highlights to learners what is fatigue and the factors that can enhance or reduce it. It also discusses the supply chain, and the responsibilities of all workers connected to that.
05. Wellbeing
Aimed at everyone in the workplace, this training program will certainly assist those workers feeling the effects of stress and worry. Includes 5 minutes of video content, and will provide learners with coping strategies, and how to recognise the signs that pressures are beginning to affect wellbeing.
What’s in store for 2020?
We’re pleased to reveal that we have several programs in the pipeline for next year.
Currently in production are two programs on topics that have certainly resonated; Workplace Bullying Prevention and Mental Health. The latter is longer, more in depth program compared to the shorter course mentioned above, which will include a version for managers and a version for staff.
Stay tuned, there will be others. If you would like more information, or are looking for specific content to upload onto your LMS platform, feel free to get contact.
